Bergschrund
glacierA gaping, deep crevasse where moving glacier ice pulls away from stagnant ice or rock walls at the head of a glacier.
Whiteout
weatherAn optical weather phenomenon where heavy cloud cover, fog, and snow blend together, completely eliminating all horizon, shadows, and depth perception.
Verglas
weatherA paper-thin, transparent glaze of smooth ice formed when rain or melting snow freezes over exposed rock.
Bivouac (Bivy)
gearA minimalist, improvised open-air camp using just a waterproof bivy sack or sleeping bag without pitching a tent.
Diamox (Acetazolamide)
