Tehri Garhwal
Sprawling turquoise reservoirs, sacred mountain confluences, and pine ridges
All Destinations
Tehri Lake & Adventure Hub
Created by the colossal Tehri Dam—one of the world's highest rock-and-earth fill embankment dams (260.5m) impounding the Bhagirathi and Bhilangna rivers—Tehri Lake is a sprawling 42-square-kilometer turquoise reservoir. It has emerged as Uttarakhand's premier water adventure hub, offering jet skiing, speed boating, banana boat rides, wakeboarding, parasailing, and luxury floating houseboats.
Kanatal & Surkanda Devi Ridge
A tranquil mountain ridge perched on the Mussoorie-Chamba highway at 2,590m, Kanatal is famous for cool mountain breezes, apple orchards, and pine forests. Overlooking the ridge at 2,756m stands the sacred hill temple of Surkanda Devi—a prominent Shakti Peetha where Goddess Sati's head fell, accessible by a 2 km uphill walk or ropeway offering 360-degree views of the Garhwal peaks.
Devprayag (Ganga Confluence)
The most sacred and visually dramatic of the Panch Prayag, Devprayag is where the churning turquoise rapids of the Bhagirathi River merge with the calm, deep-green waters of the Alaknanda River to officially form the holy River Ganga. Sited in Tehri Garhwal, the town features the 10,000-year-old Raghunathji stone temple (built of massive uncemented stones) and sacred bathing ghats.
