Abbott Mount & Lohaghat
A serene colonial mountain hamlet established in 1914 by British businessman Harold Abbott, Abbott Mount features 13 heritage stone cottages scattered across an oak-and-pine ridge with sweeping vistas of eastern Himalayan snow peaks. Nearby Lohaghat on the banks of the Lohawati River is renowned for pine forests, walnut groves, and the ancient hilltop fort of Banasur.
Advaita Ashrama Mayawati
Situated 9 km from Lohaghat surrounded by deep pine, oak, and deodar forests, Advaita Ashrama at Mayawati was founded in 1899 by Captain Sevier and his wife under the guidance of Swami Vivekananda. Dedicated strictly to the non-dualistic Advaita Vedanta philosophy, no external images, idols, or ceremonial rituals are permitted here—only silent meditation and self-realization amidst nature.
