Pindari Glacier Trek
One of the oldest and most celebrated glacier treks in the Indian Himalayas, Pindari Glacier has captivated mountain explorers for over a century. Walking through the pristine Pindar River gorge from the roadhead at Kharkiya, the trail ascends past traditional wooden villages (Lohar Khet, Khati) and dense rhododendron forests to Zero Point (3,860m), directly facing the vast icefall of Pindari Glacier wedged between Mount Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot.
Kausani Panoramic Himalayan Balcony
Dubbed the 'Switzerland of India' by Mahatma Gandhi who stayed here in 1929 and composed his treatise on Anasakti Yoga, Kausani perches on a high pine ridge in Bageshwar district. It commands a world-famous, 300-kilometer uninterrupted panoramic vista of Himalayan peaks including Mount Trishul, Nanda Devi, and Panchachuli, complemented by tea estates and peaceful ashrams.
Baijnath Temple Complex & Gomti Basin
Sited on the left bank of the Gomti River 16 km from Kausani in Bageshwar district, Baijnath is a magnificent 12th-century stone temple complex built by the Katyuri kings who ruled Kumaon. Dedicated to Lord Shiva (Vaidyanatha), the main sanctum houses an exquisitely detailed, unblemished black stone idol of Goddess Parvati.
Kafni Glacier Trek
Branching east from the Pindari trail at Dwali, the Kafni Glacier trek leads into a wilder, broader, and far less frequented alpine valley beneath the glaciated foot of Mount Nanda Kot (6,860m). The route crosses vibrant alpine bugyals carpeted in wild anemones and gentians to reach the lateral moraine of Kafni Glacier at 3,860m.
